The Summer Camp is open to all children between the ages of 3 to 9 years
that may or may not be currently enrolled at MCDB.
Children that sign a 12 month contract for school year 2008-2009 will
automatically be enrolled in all the summer camps with no additional
fee. Please note that the school will be closed for students from June
18 th – 20 th to prepare for the summer camps, and for the week
of August 25 th to prepare for the new school year.
The weekly camp fees for children not enrolled in a 12 month contract
are as follows:
8:30am – 11:30am - $175/week
8:30am – 2:45pm - $275/week
8:30am – 6pm - $400/week
You can choose to enroll for the months of July and August only at a
rate of $1,100 per month for 8:30am to 6pm.
Summer Camp Themes
Beach Week (Monday,
June 23 rd – Friday,
June 27 th) 8:30am-11:30am
This will be a fun filled week spent mostly on the playground with different
water activities.
Independence Day (Monday, June 30 th – Thursday,
July 3 rd) 8:30am-11:30am
Children will get a quick history lesson about the United States. They
will learn why we celebrate on July 4 th, the history behind some United
States symbols such as the Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, and some
patriotic songs. The children will have fun with art activities and stories
that go along with Independence Day.
Journey to Beijing(Monday July 7 th – Friday,
July 18 th) 2 weeks
Bring the Olympic spirit to life for students with information and activities
related to the summer games in China. Students will learn about China,
Olympic history, traditions, and the sports that will be played. The
activities will culminate with having a mini Olympic competition in the
classroom/playground.
On the Farm (Monday,
July 21 st – Friday,
July 25 th)
Children will learn about farm animals and plants through games. Life
cycle of chicken, cow and sunflower will be studied, along with background
information and facts about barns, farm animals and crops. A field trip
to Frying Pan Park will end the week.
In the Ocean(Monday, July 28 th – Friday,
August 1 st)
Children will learn about oceans and sea life through games. Life cycle
of jelly fish, hermit crabs and sea horses will be studied along with background
information and facts about tide pools, coral reefs and open ocean.
Music (Monday, August 4th – Friday,
August 8th)
Children will learn about the different styles of music (contemporary,
classical, jazz, etc.) along with famous musicians who play this
kind of music. They will also learn about different instruments
and which group they belong to (brass, woodwind, percussion, etc.).
Space (Monday, August 11th – Friday,
August 15th)
Children will learn about the sun, moon, planets, comets, meteors
and stars. Answers to questions such as “Why do we have
Day and Night?” or “Where do the stars go during the
day?” will be discussed this week. Space travel will be introduced
with a field trip to the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum.
Food and Nutrition/Cooking (Monday, August 18th – Friday,
August 22nd)
Children will learn that food supplies the body with energy. Eating
a balanced variety of foods is important for proper nutrition. Fun
cooking projects will be introduced each day to reinforce the concept
of making healthy choices.
