Classes

Pre-Primary:

This program cultivates the unique phases of development in children age 2 to 3 years by providing an environment that encourages independent exploration and movement. Children in this stage learn by observing and absorbing from their environment. Each classroom is equipped with child sized furniture and developmentally appropriate Montessori material to satisfy this inner impulse for learning.
  • Half Day Mornings 8:30am – 11:30am.

  • Primary/Kindergarten:

This program provides a peaceful and secure environment for children 3 to 6 years that fosters intellectual development through independent exploration. The younger children in this group are encouraged to work with activities in “Daily Living” to instill independence and confidence, and activities in “Sensorial” area to refine the sensory perceptions of touch, sound, sight, etc. Once the child becomes confident in these areas, the lessons from sensorial area are applied to development of mathematical and language concepts. The child’s awareness of the world around him is enhanced through lessons in geography, science, art and music. Children that turn 5 before September 30, 2005 will be enrolled in the kindergarten program that works with a mixed age group in the morning, and a specialized program that adheres to and exceeds the Virginia Standards of Learning in the afternoon.
